The Managing Authority of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme took part in the recent Interreg Leaders’ Forum, organised within the framework of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union and attended by senior representatives of the European institutions and by the managing authorities of the Interreg programmes. The Forum focused on the new Interreg programming period 2028–2034, providing an opportunity for strategic reflection on the main challenges and opportunities, as well as on the role of Interreg within the new post-2027 cohesion policy framework.
Discussions at the Forum clearly highlighted how Interreg is not merely a funding mechanism, but rather a genuine laboratory for innovation, learning, and the building of trust among regions and communities.
In this context, the participation of the Managing Authority of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme represented a particularly significant moment, both in terms of actively contributing to the debate on the future of cross-border cooperation and of consolidating and strengthening dialogue with other Interreg programmes. This opened the way for potential future synergies, in line with the European Commission’s approach to multilevel cooperation and the capitalisation of results.
