On July 22nd, 2024 the Managing Authority of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme has signed the financing contract of the standard project PALLIPES.
The ultimate goal of the project is to contribute to the conservation and enhancement of river crayfish (Austropotamobius pallipes) populations in the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia. The river crayfish serves as an excellent biological indicator for the assessment of the condition of habitats and biodiversity within aquatic ecosystems. The species is highly susceptible to pollutants and hydrological alterations and is presently categorized as at risk due to habitat degradation, the presence of non-native crayfish species, and climate change.
Lead Partner of the project is Park Ć kocjanske jame in collaboration with 3 project partners and 5 associated partners.
