On Saturday, June 20, during Museum Night, Tolmin Museum, like most other museums in Slovenia, opened its doors to all visitors. The theme of this year's event was the 50th anniversary of the Friuli earthquakes, and the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) was invited to participate in the program.
At our information stand, we informed visitors about the CONCORDIA project and raised awareness of what had taken place in this region 50 years ago during the Friuli earthquakes. Many visitors shared their personal memories and experiences of how they had experienced those earthquakes at the time. Considerable interest was also shown in the accelerometer that was installed at the Tolmin Museum as part of the CONCORDIA project. Visitors were particularly interested in observing the instrument’s real-time recordings displayed on the screen.
In addition to ARSO, several civil protection and rescue services operating in the Tolmin area also took part in the event. They presented a demonstration exercise entitled “EARTHQUAKE!”, showcasing the process of rescuing people from a building following an earthquake. For this purpose, they used the Tolmin Museum building itself as the exercise site.
