Presentation of the CycleProMotion Project at the FEDARENE General Assembly 2026 in Modena
Representatives of GOLEA participated in the annual meeting of the European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment (FEDARENE) General Assembly 2026, held from 19 to 21 May 2026 in Modena, Italy. The event brought together numerous regional and local energy agencies, representatives of European institutions, development organisations, and experts in the fields of energy, climate change, and sustainable development from various European countries. The event represents an important platform for networking, knowledge exchange, and the presentation of current European projects and activities in the fields of sustainable energy, climate action, and regional development.
An important part of the event was also dedicated to the presentation of ongoing EU projects. Suzana Vidmar Kovšca presented the CycleProMotion project to the participants. The project is being implemented within the framework of the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia Programme 2021–2027. She introduced the project objectives, the current status of activities, and the broader importance of the project for the development of sustainable mobility in the cross-border area between Slovenia and Italy.
Special emphasis was placed on the project’s aim to create a common cross-border approach to sustainable mobility and the development of slow tourism. The planned smart cycling points were also presented, offering users additional services such as charging stations for electric bicycles, access to digital information, and other smart mobility solutions.
Participants were also introduced to the project’s funding programme and to the importance of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme in supporting joint cross-border development solutions. The presentation generated considerable interest among participants, as many European regions are facing similar challenges related to sustainable mobility, infrastructure connectivity, and the development of green tourism.
The presentation was followed by a discussion with participants, during which questions were raised regarding project implementation, the involvement of local stakeholders, the transferability of good practices to other European regions, and the development of similar cross-border initiatives. The presentation therefore reached an important international and cross-border audience of stakeholders and further strengthened the visibility of the CycleProMotion project and partnership at the European level.
