On September 16, representatives of two partners of the strategic KRAS-CARSO II project – the Municipality of Sežana and the ORA Krasa in Bkrinov – attended the final conference of the INTER BIKE III project – Linking inland cycling routes along the Adriabike and Adrioncycletour paths, held at the headquarters of the Regional Development Agency ROD Ajdovščina.
The purpose of the conference was to present the results of the INTER BIKE III project, discuss related initiatives, and explore opportunities for connections and synergies between strategic and capitalization Interreg projects. These projects focus on cross-border cooperation, the development of sustainable tourism products, and the promotion of sustainable mobility.
Within this framework, Aleš Vodičar (Municipality of Sežana) and Ana Hrast (ORA Krasa in Brkinov) presented the key highlights and current activities of the Kras Carso II project. In particular, they emphasized:
the main objective of the project, which is the establishment of a joint structure for sustainable development and management of the cross-border Kras-Carso Geopark;
the creation of a European Group for Territorial Cooperation - EGTC Kras-Carso in connection with the establishment of the Global Geopark, resulting from over 20 years of work;
the environmental aspect of sustainable tourism development in the cross-border geopark – organizing events, implementing sustainable transport, and developing sustainable tourism content in line with the principles of slow and nature-friendly tourism.
The Kras-Carso II project makes a significant contribution to enhancing cross-border cooperation, creating innovative and sustainable tourism products, and developing the common cross-border Karst area as a recognizable and competitive tourist destination.
