PRESS CONFERENCE, 1.10.2025
On 1 October 2025, a press conference was held at the headquarters of the Slovenian Regional Economic Association (URES) in Trieste to present the CLIMASAFE project, funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme.
The meeting was opened by the project manager Matteo Feruglio (URES), who presented the objectives of the initiative: to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in adapting to climate change. Feruglio stressed that the project is primarily intended for companies that have to deal with high energy supply costs. In this context, CLIMASAFE will develop a digital platform that will allow companies to assess climate risks and strategic directions to strengthen their resilience, free of charge.
Through the platform, each company will be able to identify its vulnerabilities, anticipate long-term impacts and determine priority actions. For example, a company planning to install solar panels on its roof will be able to assess the likelihood that extreme weather events could damage such installations. Activities also include the creation of a climate risk index to show the risk of extreme events in a cross-border area, and the preparation of a joint strategy to improve the preparedness of energy-intensive SMEs for climate risks.
The project partners were also presented at the meeting:
• Cluster COMET (Friuli Venezia Giulia metalworking industry cluster),
• Chamber of Crafts and Entrepreneurship of Slovenia – OZS,
• Local Energy Agency of Goriška – GOLEA,
• ESTREAM d.o.o., a company specializing in energy audits,
• Primorski Tehnologijski Park – PTP.
Matteo Povolato, an employee of the partner company ESTREAM, emphasized the importance of the project for companies, also in light of the already present climate changes, such as extreme summer temperatures, which reduce the productivity of companies and affect the health of employees. Povolato added that the results of the project, although intended for the private sector, will also be useful in the public sector, for example in schools and hospitals.
