The Inter Bike III project activities also run during the summer. The Regional Development Centre of Koper has selected a contractor to prepare a study on public bus transport in the region, which will help the municipalities and the competent ministry to improve the number, direction and frequency of bus routes.
First, an analysis will be made of existing urban and suburban bus passenger routes, as well as cross-border routes and links to rail passenger transport. On this basis, improvements will be proposed in terms of the introduction of new lines, the possible cancellation of existing lines, the increase or reduction of the daily number of certain lines. The proposal for changes will be financially evaluated so that both local authorities and the State are aware of the financial burden that the proposed changes would entail.
The activity aims to bring bus passenger transport closer to users and also to cyclists by proposing which routes could be launched to offer bicycle transport. In addition to the eight municipalities in the region, the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Energy will also be involved in the process of the study preparation.
