The RECREATE project took part in the international conference held in Brussels by RECREATE Composites Project, titled “Made in the EU: Creating Markets for Circular Composites”, which took place on 24 March 2026, representing an important European forum dedicated to the development of circular solutions for composite materials.
The event, organised within the framework of the Challenge Circularity initiative led by Circular Business Academy, brought together over 100 participants both onsite and online, gathering stakeholders from industry, research, policy and investment sectors. The discussion focused on the technological, regulatory and financial conditions needed to accelerate the transition from innovation to market uptake, strengthening the competitiveness of European value chains through circular economy models.
During the conference, numerous innovative solutions for the circularity of fibre-reinforced composites were presented, covering the entire lifecycle: from design and manufacturing to reuse, remanufacturing and recycling. The pitching sessions highlighted technologies that are already mature and ready for industrial adoption in strategic sectors such as automotive, wind energy, aerospace, transport and construction.
Within this context, the RECREATE project showcased its cross-border experience. Tiziana Perin, project manager of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia project, presented the contribution titled “Interreg ITA-SLO RECREATE – Improving the circular economy model for collection and processing of FRC – A crossborder pilot application in Italy and Slovenia”. The presentation illustrated the model developed by the project for the collection, treatment and reuse of composite waste, highlighting the added value of cooperation between Italy and Slovenia in building replicable circular value chains.
Participation in the conference represented an important opportunity for visibility and networking at European level, confirming RECREATE’s role as a concrete initiative contributing to the transition towards a more sustainable and circular economy.
