The third issue of the Recreate semi-annual newsletter, part of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme, has been released. This edition provides updates on the project's progress, with a particular focus on developments on the Italian side and future solutions for the Slovenian side.
🔹 A new waste bin prototype in Spinea
The Municipality of Spinea, in collaboration with Veritas Spa, has introduced an innovative urban waste bin made from recycled materials, the result of the experimental waste collection campaign for fiber-reinforced composites (CFR).
🔹 From waste to sustainable design
Educational activities in schools have helped children and young people understand the importance of recycling and reuse, with a specific focus on fiber-reinforced materials.
🔹 Upcoming events: focus on innovation and legislation
At the beginning of 2025, two key events will take place:
- Mid-term event in Nova Gorica (Slovenia) – February 18, dedicated to discussions with companies and policymakers on cross-border waste transport legislation.
- Study Visit in Italy – April 8, with a visit to the Gees Recycling facilities in Pordenone to explore treatment and recycling technologies.
🔹 Deliverables and achieved results
This phase of the project has produced strategic documents such as the Waste Catalog, the Protocol for the Acquisition of Circular Products, and the Guidelines for the Recycling of CFR Waste, essential tools for promoting the circular economy at local and cross-border levels.
