We are pleased to announce that Morigenos has received the Rado Smerdu Award, the highest national award of the Republic of Slovenia in the field of nature conservation.
The award is presented for outstanding achievements that significantly contribute to the advancement of nature conservation and the preservation of natural values. It represents the highest recognition for individuals and organizations whose work makes an important contribution to the protection of nature and biodiversity.
This recognition confirms Morigenos’ long-standing commitment to the research, monitoring, and conservation of dolphins and the marine environment in the northern Adriatic Sea. Scientific research, data collection, and collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders provide an essential foundation for the effective conservation of marine ecosystems.
In its justification, the Award Committee stated, among other things: “Morigenos has elevated the paradigm of Slovenia as a maritime nation to an entirely new level.” This recognition reflects the organization’s outstanding contribution to the understanding and protection of the marine environment, as well as its important role in advancing the field of nature conservation in Slovenia and beyond.
This achievement is also important for the SeaInsights project, which is built on high-quality scientific data, innovative research approaches, and close cooperation among partners. The award confirms expertise and reliability while highlighting the importance of scientific research and conservation efforts in developing solutions for a better understanding and protection of the marine environment. The achievements of Morigenos therefore make a significant contribution to the objectives of the SeaInsights project, which aims to improve knowledge of marine ecosystems and support their long-term conservation.
