At the end of January 2024, all the project partners: Urban Municipality of Nova Gorica, Municipality of Ajdovščina, Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica, Consorzio di Bonifica della Venezia Giulia, Consorzio di Bonifica Veneto Orientale and Comune di Monfalcone met at the premises of Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica at the second meeting of the Grennat project. We focused on the overview of individual activities, project reporting activities, project communication activities, and the preparation of a plan for the smooth further implementation of the project.
The Municipality of Miren-Kostanjevica will carry out activities aimed at establishing a learning thematic route in Bilje (at the clay pit in Bilje). The municipality of Ajdovščina will prepare the documentation for the renaturation of the flood zone along the Hubelj river, it will prepare project documentation for the construction of a footbridge over Hubelj and for the regulation of the confluence of Hubelj and Lokavšček. In 2025, the municipality will host the public event of the Vipava Day.
The municipality of Monfalcone will set up a didactic thematic path Cavana di Monfalcone and set up a Natura 2000 Info Point in Marina Julia. In addition, a descriptive brochure in which the characteristics of the habitat and the relationship between agriculture and nature conservation will be prepared. Also, 3 public announcements and a press conference in order to spread information about cross-border project Grennat activities will be implemented.
The project partner Consorzio di Bonifica della Venezia Giulia will upgrade the fish tracks by installing bristles necessary for the passage of eels. The partner will prepare a report on the monitoring of the fish fauna. A water level measuring station on the Soča River in Sagrado will be set up and a multimedia information space for the presentation of the results and achievements of the Grevislin and Grennat project (during a public event) will be establish.
The project partner Consorzio di Bonifica Veneto Orientale will set up fixed stations for monitoring surface water and stations for groundwater. Partner will prepare a periodic report of the collected monitoring data and will develop an application for irrigation management and rationalization of water resources in irrigation areas and in connection with the NATURA 2000 area.
Urban municipality of Nova Gorica will carry out a student workshop on the topic of green infrastructure in urban and suburban areas in the proximity of the protected areas and natural values.
The municipality will prepare conceptual designs for the greening and arrangement of guided and nature-friendly visits to protected areas. Plan for the arrangement and planting of the Soča River area will be created and implemented. The municipality will host an event on the topic of Natura 2000 - raising the visibility and benefits of the Natura 2000 network - and prepare an implementation and planting plan for the Lijak area for sustainable access to the area. It will also prepare and implement the upgrade of the Natura 2000 INFO point at Rihemberk Castle with the aim of improving the conditions for the bat species there.
At the second partner meeting. Urban municipality of Nova Gorica as the lead partner of the project also presented in detail the instructions and procedures for reporting project activities and the aspects of eligible costs according to the types of cost. The theoretical part of the presentation was concluded with a practical presentation on how to prepare a report in the JEMS system. Municipality of Ajdovščina, which is in charge of the communication of the project, presented already implemented communication activities by January 2024, from the production of communication materials to publications in the media. The visual identity guidelines for project communication and visibility activities were highlighted.
We successfully concluded the meeting with clear plans for the next steps to be taken within the active implementation of the GRENNAT project in the coming months.
