From 18 April to 18 May 2025, the spring cycle of the Karst Gmajna Festival took place, inviting visitors to explore one of Europe's oldest cultural landscapes - the Karst and Brkini region. The festival, dedicated to nature and heritage tourism, once again highlighted the rich biodiversity of the area and the deep interconnectedness of nature and man.
In one month, 11 free events took place, offering visitors the chance to enjoy themed hikes, cycling tours, creative workshops and culinary experiences. The events explored the lesser-known but extremely valuable corners of the cross-border Kras-Carso Geopark, while at the same time raising awareness of the importance of sustainable management of natural and cultural heritage.
This year the festival was again a collaboration between many partners. The main organiser and coordinator was the Regional Development Agency of Kras and Brkini (ORA Krasa and Brkinov), with the following partners:
The Škocjan Caves Park, Kobilarna Lipica, the Geological Service of the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Curiosi di natura Cooperative, the Kras-Brkini Beekeeping Society, Petra Pika Može, the GremoZeleno Agency, the VRT Škrbina Association and the Pastirica Institute.
The Karst Gmajna Festival has proved once again that nature and cultural tourism in the Karst and Brkini region can offer boutique, authentic and educational experiences that connect the place, the community and the visitors.
