Wednesday 26 July will see the first study visit of the POSEIDONE Project organised by the WWF Miramare Marine Protected Area, with over fifty physicists and climatologists from the Summer School "Marine Heatwaves: global phenomena with regional impacts", organised by ICTP/CLIVAR.
The researchers, on board the Miramare MPA's electric boat, will discover the ecosystem services rendered by mussel farms, important biodiversity hotspots created by man, feeding and nesting sites for marine-coastal migratory species, and concrete opportunities for reducing fishing pressure and the overexploitation of marine resources. In addition, through seawatching they will experience the underwater visual census technique, guided by WWF experts.
