The workshop dedicated to the BioTech2Agri project was successfully held on April 24, 2025, promoted by the Regional Development Agency ROD Ajdovščina, Primorska Technology Park and the Scientific Research Centre of Koper (ZRS Koper). The event provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue between key players in the agri-food and biotechnology sectors in the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia.

During the workshop, the Digital Atlas of Biotechnologies in the Cross-Border Area was presented – a tool developed to map skills, experiences, and potential within the involved regions.

The core of the event focused on examples of innovative best practices. Among the most appreciated presentations:

  • Gregor Zupin (Microbium d.o.o.) discussed the antimicrobial properties of bioactive compounds derived from olive leaves;

  • Robert Reinhardt (Algen d.o.o.) presented algae-based technologies and their sustainable application in agriculture;

  • Rok Babič (ZRS Koper) addressed the topic of virgin olive oil quality, debunking several common misconceptions.

The morning concluded with an engaging discussion on building a cross-border network for biotechnological innovation, where fundamental principles for stable and structured cooperation among project partners and stakeholders were defined.

The event reaffirmed the growing interest in integrating biotechnology into agri-food chains, promoting a sustainable and collaborative innovation approach.
