On 11 May 2026, the third partner meeting of the Interreg ITA-SLO SUPER VIEW project took place in Ljubljana, bringing together the Municipality of Udine, the Municipality of Ajdovščina, DITEDI, and the Jožef Stefan Institute to advance the development of a prototype early warning system for extreme weather events in the Italian-Slovenian cross-border area.
The meeting provided an overview of recent progress. Four deliverables are expected by the end of May 2026, including the profiling of institutional end users and the mapping of extreme weather events that have already occurred in the area. Discussions also highlighted the complexity of the alert chain, which in a cross-border context involves not only the municipalities but also regional coordination bodies.
The partners shared the findings of a preliminary comparative analysis of existing AI-powered solutions for the early monitoring of wildfires and landslides. The system will connect the territories of Udine and Ajdovščina through newly deployed cameras and weather sensors distributed across the area, providing coverage across different elevation zones — from hilly terrain to lowland plains — where climatic conditions vary considerably. A centralised platform and a shared dashboard will serve both partners, all within the framework of applicable data privacy and data sovereignty regulations.
Next Steps
The system design document is expected by November 2026, followed by hardware installation and a six-month testing phase.
