On 14 May 2025, the seventh edition of the cross-border event Tourism Matching took place in Nabrežina, organised by GAL Carso - LAS Karst in cooperation with Slow Food Italia, ORA Krasa and Brkinov and the partners of the project Karst Carso II, co-financed under the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme.
The initiative brought together more than 80 participants - tourism operators, institutional representatives and stakeholders - in a day divided into two parts: a symposium in the morning and four experiential "educational" tours in the afternoon. The symposium hosted contributions on sustainable tourism, local communities and environmental recovery, with presentations from the Karst and Trentino region and examples of good practice from Saudi Arabia and Slovenia.
The afternoon session allowed participants to learn first-hand about good practices in slow tourism between Italy and Slovenia: sailing in the Gulf of Trieste, Karst sheep farming, boutique distillation and stone working. Some of these experiences are now included in the Slow Food Travel network run by Slow Food Italia.
Tourism Matching 2025 further strengthened cross-border cooperation and confirmed the importance of integrated, sustainable tourism development based on local identity and the future Karst Geopark.
