A few days ago, biologist Ana Fortic from NIB National Institute of Biology, Slovenia gave a TV talk about the TRECAP and LIFE PINNA projects! The interview was aired on the RTV SLO (https://365.rtvslo.si/arhiv/dobro-jutro/175103568) channel during the morning programme Dobro jutro, one of the most watched programmes on Slovenian public television. The biologist touched on many topics, in particular she spoke about 𝑃𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑎 𝑛𝑜𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑠 and the efforts we make to conserve it. The species suffered a sudden decline due to a parasite and only a few individuals have survived throughout the Mediterranean. With our project, we are testing different collector materials on which 𝑃𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑎 𝑛𝑜𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑠 larvae can grow. We regularly place and examine these structures to look for young pinnids. Once we find 𝑃𝑖𝑛𝑛𝑛𝑎 𝑛𝑜𝑏𝑖𝑙𝑖𝑠 larvae we can best protect them to repopulate our waters with this species.Stay tuned for upcoming updates on the contents of the collectors!
