An important international networking meeting dedicated to Pinna nobilis, jointly promoted by the Trecap, LIFE Pinna and Poseidon projects together with Croatian researchers, was held on Monday 4 March at the Miramare MPA in the Gulf of Trieste. Representatives of many bodies involved in the conservation of the large bivalve in the Adriatic Sea were present: Shoreline and Nacionalni inštitut za biologijo, two of the partners of LIFE Pinna, the University of Trieste, the CNR National Research Council ISMAR in Venice, the Pula Aquarium Pula, Trieste and Piran Aquariums, the Croatian National Park Brijuni, and Natura Histrica, the institute that manages protected areas in Istria. They discussed reproduction techniques, but also genetic mapping and larval capture, which are the strategies behind the TRECAP project to support the restoration of this species across borders.
