12 June 2024 - As part of the Poseidone project, which promotes sustainable development and the preservation of biodiversity, the Koper Regional Development Centre (RRC Koper), in cooperation with the Municipality of Koper and the Local Community of Gračišče, has installed two new charging stations for electric bicycles. The first station is located in front of the Švab restaurant in Hrastovlje, the second at the post office in Gračišče. The Municipality of Koper has installed a third charging station at the entrance point to the Karst Edge. All stations are equipped to provide users with a complete service for their bicycles.
Cycling, as part of sustainable mobility, is an excellent way to get to know the Istrian villages and Karst Edge, an area of exceptional natural value, included in the Natura 2000 network for its rich biodiversity. In addition to the existence of cycling connections, it is also important to have facilities along the routes to make it easier for cyclists to reach their desired destinations. A well-maintained cycling infrastructure encourages active mobility, with many benefits for both the environment and human health.

About the Poseidone project
The Poseidone project is one of the three strategic projects of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027, designed to preserve biodiversity, develop green and blue infrastructure (in Natura 2000 sites and in the agricultural sector), reduce tourist pressure on protected areas and promote cooperation between Italy and Slovenia.
