Artificial intelligence is becoming a strategic element for improving efficiency, reducing risks and supporting circular construction practices. Despite showing enormous potential, the construction sector in our territories still has limited digital skills, poor data integration and difficulties in using innovative tools, as highlighted by the technical research of the Circular.Buildings project.
To support businesses, technicians and professionals in this crucial transition, the project has planned a series of seven workshops, including one dedicated to artificial intelligence, scheduled for Monday 16 December at 2 p.m. at the OZS headquarters in Ljubljana.
Why a workshop on artificial intelligence in construction?
According to analyses carried out by our partner Jožef Stefan Institute, AI offers applications that are already mature for the sector: site monitoring through visual analysis, digital safety management, predictive systems for maintenance and consumption, advanced design models, collaboration tools and decision support platforms.
However, significant obstacles remain: inconsistent data quality, poor integration with traditional systems, lack of digital skills and difficulties in adopting new organisational processes. The workshop will focus on these points, offering a clear and practical overview of the potential, limitations and concrete applications.
Practical support for businesses and professionals
The initiative is part of the Circular.Buildings project training programme, which between October 2025 and January 2026 will offer 14 workshops in Italy and Slovenia, dedicated to key topics in innovation in the construction sector: digitalisation, the circular economy, waste management, BIM, energy efficiency and renewable sources.
The workshop on 16 December is a particularly useful opportunity to:
- Understanding the real applications of AI in the construction process.
- Evaluating the tools available today, with examples of their use already in place at international level.
- Analysing the main obstacles to adoption and the conditions necessary for introducing these tools into SMEs.
- Exploring the role of AI in the transition to circular construction, in line with the objectives of the Circular.Buildings project.
A cross-border event to strengthen skills and collaboration
The workshop, organised in collaboration with the Chamber of Craft and Small Enterprises of Slovenia (OZS), contributes to the project's objective of strengthening cross-border cooperation and building shared skills between the two territories.
Participation is free and open to construction companies, installers, designers, architects, engineers, surveyors and all players in the supply chain who want to understand how artificial intelligence can support the evolution of the sector.
