ENERGY EFFICIENCY OF BUILDINGS IN THE CONTEXT OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
The Circular.Buildings project continues its awareness-raising and training activities with a new workshop dedicated to a key issue for innovation in the construction sector: the energy efficiency of buildings from the perspective of the circular economy.
The initiative aims to offer companies, professionals, and students concrete tools to understand how reducing consumption, enhancing materials, and designing for durability can contribute to the sector's sustainable transition.
The meeting will open with an introduction to the project by Paola D'Agaro, who will present the aims of the Circular.Buildings program and the services made available to the local area. As envisaged by the project, the workshop is part of a broader cross-border program that aims to strengthen skills and awareness among operators in the Italian and Slovenian construction sectors.
Next, Alice Bolzan will offer an overview of the best practices identified in the research carried out at the beginning of the project, which collects virtuous examples of resource management, circular design, and waste reduction. The good practices presented show how the 9R principles can be applied throughout the entire life cycle of buildings, promoting more efficient, sustainable, and replicable models, even for local SMEs.
The heart of the morning will be dedicated to a presentation by Gianluca Rapone, who will guide the audience through an in-depth analysis of energy efficiency as an essential component of the circular economy in construction. Topics such as the durability of systems, the reduction of material use in renovations, the quality of waste produced, and its proper recovery will be addressed. These are key aspects for the transition to more responsible and competitive construction, as also highlighted by studies on the building stock in the cross-border area.
The session will also include a participatory part, designed to encourage dialogue between the speaker, students, and the audience, and to link theoretical concepts to concrete applications.
Registration and organizational information
Registration is open until December 18.

The initiative is aimed in particular at students enrolled in Master's degree programs in Civil Engineering, Architecture, and Mechanical Engineering, but participation is open to all interested students.
The event in Slovenian will be organized at a later date.
The workshop represents a concrete opportunity to explore one of the most strategic issues for the future of construction: combining energy efficiency and the circular economy means reducing environmental impact, improving building performance, and strengthening the competitiveness of local businesses.
