Zala Velkavrh from the Prostorož studio participated, as a representative of the CLISHE project, in a thematic discussion evening held as part of the DAL (Ljubljana Architects’ Association) exhibition WARNING! HOT SPOT!. The exhibition highlights the growing issue of heat in Ljubljana, showcases good and poor practices in urban space management, and brings together experts to explore solutions for mitigating and adapting to future heat waves.
At the roundtable Infrastructure Solutions, Zala presented plans for establishing a climate shelter in the area of the University Medical Centre Ljubljana, which will be developed within the CLISHE project. In a discussion with architects, ministry representatives and NGOs, she addressed the links between traffic, infrastructure and the urban heat island phenomenon, as well as potential approaches to cooling the city through adjustments to the traffic system and public space.
Among the exhibited projects was also Prostorož’s participatory research on hot micro-locations in Ljubljana from 2020. Prostorož will continue research and field analyses in 2026, when a new climate shelter will be created in collaboration with one of Ljubljana’s clinics.
