CROSS-CULTURE
The project "Meeting of Cultures: Nature without Borders" proposes an innovative festival in the cross-border area of Nova Gorica and Gorica, combining various cultural sectors with an emphasis on ecological literature. The festival involves music, theater, dance, and fine arts. The goal is to raise awareness on ecological issues through literary works and performance art, involving past and present authors. The project will create the basis for an annual festival, the first edition will take place in 2024 with a focus on landscapes, while the second edition of the festival will be held in 2025 where the theme of water will be addressed through various literary works.
The main objective was to strengthen the role of culture and sustainable tourism in promoting economic development, social inclusion and social innovation through the establishment of the annual joint cross-border festival “Meeting of Cultures: Nature Without Borders”. The festival promoted an innovative and critical approach to ecological issues through the interpretation of literary works performed by amateur artists.
The festival’s goal was also to encourage visitors to engage in sustainable initiatives and to enhance the attractiveness of the cross-border area as a tourist destination, thereby contributing to the economic development of the border region.
As part of the CROSS-CULTURE project, 29 events were held, including 12 major cross-border public events, 14 events as part of the accompanying program and 3 closing events. These included musical and literary concerts, literary evenings, readings, lectures, street painting, art and photography exhibitions, art camps, on-site art sessions, book presentations, theater and dance performances.
The events involved local artists and cultural practitioners, including orchestras, choirs, writers, visual artists, photographers, theater performers and dancers, as well as participants of all ages, from preschool children and primary and secondary school students to adults.
