ECoCNetwork
The "ECoCNetwork" project aims to improve the cohesion and inclusiveness of the European Capitals of Culture by creating a network of participating institutions from the European Capitals of Culture, including Bad Ischl in Austria, Tartu in Estonia, Bodø in Norway, Chemnitz in Germany, Nova Gorica in Slovenia, Oulu in Finland, and Evora in Portugal. The purpose of the project is to learn about the dynamics of involving different institutions in the European Capitals of Culture, exchange knowledge on how to involve different institutions, especially interprises and youth. With a perspective of preparation and implementation of the European Capitals of Culture, an event will be organized to bring together business support organizations, SMEs (green, cultural-creative, digital) and youth from the 8 ECC2024-2027 countries.
The main objectives of the ECoCNetwork project are focused on connecting European Capitals of Culture, support institutions, businesses and young people with the aim of strengthening cultural entrepreneurship and cross-border cooperation.
1. Strengthening cross-border cooperation
The project promotes cooperation among European Capitals of Culture (ECoC), support institutions, SMEs and young people. The goal is to create stronger links among different stakeholders and improve cooperation at the cross-border and international levels.
2. Creating synergies with ECoC 2025
The project establishes connections with the initiatives of ECoC 2025 (Nova Gorica-Gorizia) and other European Capitals of Culture in order to exchange experiences, good practices and cooperation models. This contributes to greater visibility and success of these projects.
3. Exchange of knowledge and good practices
One of the key objectives is the transfer of knowledge between ECoCs and institutions through workshops, meetings and an international hackathon. The results also included the preparation of documents with good practices and recommendations for future European Capitals of Culture.
4. Strengthening the potential of the economy and young people
The project encourages the involvement of SMEs and young people in cultural and creative industries and connects education, the labour market and entrepreneurship. In this way, it aims to increase economic potential and create new opportunities for young people.
5. Promoting cultural entrepreneurship
Special emphasis is placed on the development of cultural entrepreneurship as an important economic factor. The project promotes cooperation between the cultural sector, businesses and innovation centres, as well as the development of new cultural products and services.
6. Greater visibility and sustainability of European Capitals of Culture
Through networking, events and communication activities, the project increases the international visibility of ECoCs and contributes to the development of dynamic, innovative and future-oriented European cities.
The project established an international network with partners from 8 countries (Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Estonia, Norway, Germany, Portugal and Finland) connecting offices of the European Capitals of Culture, SMEs and young people.
Partners participated in three online meetings to exchange knowledge on the inclusion of the economy, the creative sector and young people in the activities of the European Capitals of Culture.
An international event was organized bringing together representatives of the offices of the European Capitals of Culture, SMEs and young people from eight countries. The hackathon and networking activities focused on finding solutions for linking the economy and the creative sector and for involving young people in the activities of the European Capitals of Culture. The round table enabled discussion with stakeholders and decision-makers. A study visit to the cross-border area was also organized.
A set of recommendations was prepared for more effective involvement of SMEs and young people in the activities of the European Capitals of Culture. The recommendations promote innovation cross-sector cooperation and contribute to the development of a shared cross-border area and sustainable social development.
An event was organized for the exchange of knowledge and experience between ECoC GO!2025 and future candidates for the European Capital of Culture title, such as Trieste and Klagenfurt.
