Summary of the ALL-MICRO Cross-Training Event
Following a first event organised in Italy in November 2024, the second part of the ALL-MICRO Cross-Training event, held over two days in Slovenia, aimed to enhance technical skills, foster networking, and strengthen collaboration between Italian and Slovenian partners in the field of optical and electron microscopy.
Day 1 – University of Nova Gorica, Ajdovščina (Feb 4, 2025)
Participants engaged in hands-on training sessions covering various microscopy techniques, including sample preparation, TEM, AFM, SEM, and µ-Raman. Three working groups rotated through different sessions to optimize learning. The day concluded with a lab tour.
Day 2 – Nanocenter, Ljubljana (Feb 5, 2025)
Training at the Nanocenter focused on advanced microscopy instruments such as Focused Ion Beam (FIB), 4-Probe Microscopy, and Quantum Device Labs. The event ended with a visit to the Jožef Stefan Institute and University of Nova Gorica microscopy labs.
Conclusions
The event successfully promoted knowledge exchange to strengthen ties in this cross-border collaboration. Participants gained hands-on experience with advanced microscopy tools, reinforcing the ALL-MICRO project's goal of creating a strong international microscopy network.
