A training day was held at the ICGEB headquarters, during which researchers from the Cardiovascular Biology laboratory, headed by Serena Zacchigna, provided a specific training on the use of flow cytometry and cell sorting to colleagues from the Slovenian partner GaiaCell for the characterization of adipose tissue cells. Flow cytometry and cell sorting are particularly relevant for COHERENCE, as they allow detailed characterization of the various cell populations generated upon the expansion of patient’s primary cells, by labeling different membrane receptors with fluorescent markers. Specifically, endothelial cells and mesenchymal cells will be studied and characterized, for their eventual therapeutic use.
