On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, the Municipality of Nova Gorica, in collaboration with the Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation and the Symbiosis Institute, organized a workshop on the responsible management and reuse of invasive plants. The event took place within the framework of the cross-border Waste Design 2.0 project, implemented under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia programme.
The workshop was held in the urban forest of Panovec, where participants learned about the invasive species present in the wider Nova Gorica area and their characteristics. Special attention was also given to exploring possible reuse options. The theoretical part was followed by a practical demonstration of removing invasive species and their proper disposal.
With this initiative, the organizers aimed to raise awareness of the importance of responsible management of invasive plants, which, if left uncontrolled, can cause serious damage to the natural environment. At the same time, they wanted to show that, with the right approach, even unwanted plants can be transformed into a resource and provide new opportunities.
