On Friday, April 11, 2025, the training seminar for beekeepers took place at the Antonio Servadei Experimental Agricultural Company in Pagnacco (UD). The event was organized by the Alto Adriatico Technology Hub, in collaboration with the University of Udine, as part of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia BEE2GETHER project.
The initiative aimed to highlight the role of bees as environmental indicators and to enhance biodiversity monitoring in the cross-border area, by combining technological tools with direct field observation. The turnout was high, and participants showed great interest in the topics covered.
The afternoon featured a series of technical and scientific presentations:
🔹 Tiziana Perin from the Alto Adriatico Technology Hub introduced the goals and activities of the BEE2GETHER project, emphasizing the value of cross-border cooperation between Italy and Slovenia for biodiversity protection.
🔹 Alessandro Zorer of Melixa s.r.l. presented some innovative technologies supporting modern beekeeping, with a particular focus on electronic hives and automated data collection.
🔹 Marco De Colle, agronomist and beekeeping technician, explained how to integrate data collected from electronic hives with on-site field observations, thereby improving the effectiveness of monitoring activities.
🔹 Davide Pasut from BIOSFERA s.r.l. focused on the role of natural environments in the foraging behavior of honeybees, highlighting how floral diversity in the landscape impacts hive health.
🔹 Antonella Stravisi from the University of Udine concluded the session by discussing honeybees and wild bees as indicators of environmental quality, offering interesting perspectives for future research and monitoring activities.
The event was an important opportunity for professional development for beekeepers and was recognized as valid training for professionals in the sector.
