The Tegnùe are rock formations that are unique for their structure and the organisms that inhabit them, and have been present on the Chioggia coastline since the 18th century.
The term 'Tegnùe' derives from the local dialect and means 'hold' and was used by fishermen to indicate the presence of these rocks on which fishing nets were caught.
As part of the Poseidone project, from Thursday 22 August the Veneto Region will begin a cleaning campaign at the Tegnùe di Chioggia site, where lost nets and fishing gear will be removed, along with various types of waste that have settled on the seabed and have not been colonised by marine organisms.
