Within the framework of the DATIS project, the second workshop on digital accessibility in tourism was held on 31 March 2026 at the GO! Center in Gorizia, aimed at tourism providers from the region.
The workshop was designed as a free two-hour training session focused on improving understanding of the importance of digital accessibility for the tourism sector. Participants were introduced to the basic concepts of digital accessibility, its strategic value for tourism, concrete examples and good practices, as well as the most common mistakes found in digital information and tourism providers’ websites.
Special attention was given to how providers can improve the user experience, increase the visibility of their offer and contribute to more inclusive tourism through clear, reliable and accessible information. Accessible digital information is important for all visitors, but especially for persons with disabilities, older people and users with diverse needs, who must be able to obtain understandable and useful information before their visit.
The workshop featured Maša Malovrh from Beletrina, an expert in the development of digital accessibility projects, and Michele Franz from CRIBA, the Regional Information Centre on Architectural Barriers. The programme also included an overview of European regulations and useful guidance for improving compliance with current requirements.
With this workshop, the DATIS project continues to raise awareness in the tourism sector about the importance of digital accessibility and supports the development of a higher-quality, more welcoming and more inclusive tourism offer in the Italy-Slovenia cross-border area.
