Before the cold winter days, the second partner meeting of the CROSS ALERT project took place at the premises of the Municipality of Monfalcone. The Municipality of Ajdovščina is the lead partner in the project, the Municipality of Postojna, IGEA company, the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Municipality of Monfalcone, and the City of Venice are also participating. The Health Center Ajdovščina, the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia, and the Local Action Group Kras S.C.A.R.L. are also joining the project as the associated partners.
The first part of the meeting began with a press conference. The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Monfalcone greeted the attendees, and the project representative briefly introduced the project to the wider public. This was followed by a project meeting regarding the implementation of activities, which was guided by the Municipality of Ajdovščina in its role as the lead partner. The aim of the first phase is to assess the effectiveness of existing systems and measures for preventing natural disasters and to conduct a review of the consequences of fires and floods in the areas of the participating municipalities. Based on the findings, a plan will be developed for the creation of digital tools that will enable the monitoring of endangered areas and provide support for disaster recovery efforts.
The project aims to improve the response capabilities of rescuers in case of natural disasters in the area between Italy and Slovenia. Throughout the cooperation, various activities, workshops, and pilot actions will allow us to gain new knowledge and experiences from each other, enriching cross-border collaboration.
