Active participation and open dialogue for shared water governance
Active participation and open dialogue for shared water governance
On Tuesday, April 15, the first Territorial Focus Group of the Interreg Italy–Slovenia WABIN Project took place at the Auditorium of the NIP Consortium in Maniago. The event was dedicated to the Italian side of the project and saw strong participation from municipalities, companies, and local and regional representatives.
The meeting was structured in three main sessions. After an institutional introduction to the project and its objectives, an in-depth presentation on River Contracts followed, offering a historical and regulatory overview with a focus on the current situation in Northern Italy and neighboring countries.
In the second part of the event, participants were divided into thematic working groups, organized by territorial or sectoral relevance. This format enabled peer-to-peer exchange, helping to highlight concrete needs, local issues, and existing good practices.
The third session was held in plenary, with each group reporting their discussions back to the full audience, fostering a shared and enriching dialogue among all stakeholders present.
Participants also completed a structured questionnaire to collect local water management needs. The information gathered – together with the insights that will emerge from upcoming events, including the Slovenian-side Focus Group at the end of May – will be analyzed to design capacity-building paths and study visits in the coming months as part of the WABIN project.
The needs assessment is still open in digital format for those who could not attend in person.
