As part of the AI-GRAPE project, an internal online training session was held on Friday, April 11, 2025, aimed at preparing partners for the new season in test vineyards across the cross-border area.
The training was led by the technological partner Primo Principio, who presented the use of the digital platform and mobile application for monitoring three key vineyard pests that pose a significant risk to grape production:
• Lobesia botrana (European grapevine moth),
• Eupoecilia ambiguella (European grape berry moth),
• Scaphoideus titanus (American grapevine leafhopper).
Special attention was given to demonstrating the use of the application and platform, where real-time data on vineyard conditions and pest presence will be available. These data will be verified through regular field inspections by the project partners. The collected data will be used to develop predictive models that will enable winegrowers to take timely, targeted, and environmentally friendly actions.
The vineyard as an ecosystem is a complex system in which many species coexist. The AI-GRAPE project aims to enhance the understanding of these interactions and to promote sustainable vineyard management through the use of AI and digital solutions in the cross-border area of Slovenia and Italy.
