The Interreg Annual Event 2025 - Interreg GO!, held between the cities of Nova Gorica (SI) and Gorizia (IT) between the days of March 26-27-28, 2025, was a great success!
The celebration began on March 26th with the YOUTH EVENT, an event, held at the University of Trieste's Gorizia campus, dedicated to young people and their involvement within transboundary cooperation activities within European Union programmes. It was discussed here how and how crucial cross-border cooperation is nowadays for the future of the EU and its citizens.
In addition, a number of projects funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme were also present and presented to the audience on this occasion, and they presented their activities and their achieved results.
The day ended with the awarding of the first two winners of the video competition “Italy-Slovenia in 30 seconds”, to whom, again, we extend heartfelt congratulations.
The event continued on March 27th with multiple meetings and panels at the G. Verdi Theater in Gorizia. During these events, topics related to international politics and cooperation were discussed. There were also discussions on what possible tools should be used to improve the work of countries on these issues, not only within the EU, but also outside it, suggesting the involvement of actors outside the European environment.
The afternoon session, on the other hand, featured the Interreg Slam 2024-2025, an event in which, through theatrical performances (which were later awarded), themes, objectives and results, addressed and achieved, from various projects funded by Interreg programmes were brought to the stage.
The session at the Verdi Theater ended with the awarding of the winning class in the competition aimed at local high schools “Students4Cooperation”, to whom our congratulations are renewed.
Finally, the day on the 27th pleasantly ended at the Palazzo Dell'Unione Ginnastica Goriziana (UGG), a venue where a dinner was held during which the Tartini Cross Border Orchestra (from the TARTINI BIS project) performed, accompanying the diners with the notes of its live music.
March 28th, the final day of the celebration, was a more “eventful” day.
A morning discussion was held at the G. Verdi Theater in Gorizia, involving the various authorities from European institutions exchanging insights, ideas and best experiences on 2021-2027 programming. The protagonists of this session then focused on Operations of Strategic Significance (OSIs) and Interreg Specific Objectives (ISOs).
Next, the afternoon session featured 6 study visits to projects funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Program. The topics on which the visits focused were as follows:
Tourism and Culture
People-to-People
Natural risk management
Research and innovation
Greener Europe and water resource management
Health
Finally, the day, and with it the entire event, ended at Piazza Transalpina, a symbolic place of meeting of different people and cultures. Here, following a greeting from the authorities, a flash mob involving the event's participants was held and the mosaic celebrating 35 years of Interreg, masterfully crafted by the skilled artisans and artists of the Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli di Spilimbergo, was revealed to the public.
The Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme cordially greets and would like to thank all the participants and all the collaborators and partners who contributed to the success of this important event.
