One month ago, a bilingual videoconference workshop was held to present the digital platform and the multispectral model for assessing vineyard water status, developed within the IRRIGAVIT project.
During the one-hour event, four technical presentations were delivered, showcasing the updated IRRIGAVIT platform (irrigavit.eu) — formerly known as ACQUAVITS — and the new features introduced thanks to the capitalization project funded by the Interreg Italy–Slovenia Programme.
The conference was attended by 40 participants, including experts, researchers, technicians, representatives from Assoenologi, and sector-specific media. Attendees gained insight into territorial and vineyard monitoring through real-time environmental satellite imagery and spatial data, with the ability to compare parameters and indices from multiple sources.
The live demonstration of the platform was led by Klemen Lisjak, coordinator from KIS – Kmetijski Inštitut Slovenije (Agricultural Institute of Slovenia), and Blaž Barborič, coordinator from GIS – Geodetski Inštitut Slovenije (Geodetic Institute of Slovenia).
Marko Zore (GIS) explained the functionality of the automated report system, which generates multispectral index reports from satellite images. Reports are available for download as PDFs in three languages. Users can select an area, time period, and specific indices to generate an automated document containing graphs and explanatory text, with options to compare data from previous years.
Vittoria Posocco, a researcher from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, presented isotopic analyses of water in cross-border vineyards, which are also available on the platform, along with results from her research on vineyard water dynamics.
Klemen Lisjak returned to present precision viticulture techniques, the use of drones, and geographic information systems (GIS) for vineyard studies.
The workshop was moderated and concluded by Blaž Barborič, coordinator of the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia, the partner responsible for organizing the event.
Communication activities were managed by the University of Udine (LP) and an external service tasked with dissemination and media relations.
