On 8 April 2025, within the framework of the BeBlue – Beyond Bluegrass project, a live virtual aquaponic tour was held at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, bringing together both on-site and online participants.
The event was led by Ana Slatnar (University of Ljubljana) and Miha Štular (KGZS Zavod Kranj). The external partner Verus ensured the live broadcast directly from the pilot aquaponic system. Online participants were able to ask questions in real time, enabling interactive knowledge exchange.
The pilot system, which integrates fish farming and plant cultivation in a circular and sustainable model, was presented in detail. Participants learned about biological water filtration processes and the transformation of nitrogen compounds into nutrients for plants. Special emphasis was placed on sustainable food production and optimized resource use.
The virtual tour significantly contributed to knowledge dissemination among students, researchers, advisors and the wider professional community, fostering discussion on the future of circular agri-food production.
