“Music in the Cellar” festival concluded, three sold-out musical events among vineyards and culture

The cycle of events “Music in the Cellar”, promoted by VeGAL - Development Agency of Eastern Venice in the framework of the European project Interreg Italy-Slovenia 2021-2027 BEroots, ended with the third event in Ceggia on June 27. The initiative included three free musical events hosted in as many wineries in Eastern Veneto, with the aim of enhancing the local cultural landscape and food and wine heritage through cultural proposals in unconventional spaces.

“Music in the Cellar” is part of the cooperation activities planned by BEroots, a project aimed at the regeneration of cross-border territories in the Italian-Slovenian hinterland through cultural initiatives, sustainable routes and the promotion of local identity elements. The festival offered three concerts, each representing a different musical language, accompanied by moments of tasting, visual art and cultural animation.

The first event took place on Thursday, June 19, at the Ornella Bellia Winery in Pramaggiore (VE), with a performance by the Trieste-based vocal group Anakrousis, proposed in collaboration with VivaVoce International A Cappella Festival of Treviso. The musical program included jazz, swing, gospel and pop songs, performed a cappella. The evening was introduced by an aperitif at the winery.

On Wednesday, June 26, the festival continued at the SuttoWine winery in Noventa di Piave (VE), where the Francesco Bearzatti Electric Bears trio presented two musical sets between jazz, improvisation and funk sounds. The event was organized with the collaboration of the Treviso Suona Jazz Festival and the Treviso Comic Book Festival, the latter involved with a live painting action by illustrator Paolo Gallina.

The third and final concert was held on Friday, June 27, at La Caneva di Giancarlo winery in Ceggia (VE), with the Voci Sparse format dedicated to contemporary songwriting. It featured Venetian artist Iako, international trio Cuerdas, active between Andean and South American music, and pianist and author Niccolò Martin. The evening was accompanied by DJ-sets, graphic interventions by Caterina Favaro and a food and wine offering of natural wines and street food.

The BEroots project - acronym for “Between rivers and lagoons: artistic routes” - involves, in addition to VeGAL, the following partners: the Municipality of Savogna d'Isonzo (ITA), the Slovenian Regional Economic Association SDGZ-URES (ITA), the Municipality of Vipava (SLO), the TRG Tourist Board of Vipava (SLO) and the Ajdovščina People's University (SLO). Project activities include creating tourist itineraries, installing points of interest dedicated to lesser-known local artists, and organizing cultural events aimed at promoting the tangible and intangible heritage of local communities.
