On Friday 17th May WWF AMP Miramare for the INTERREG ITA-SLO Project POSEIDONE met schools, families and the adult public at the Under18 Science Festival organised in the town of Monfalcone.

Everything was organised to guide over fifty primary and secondary school students and teachers on a special "dive" into the Gulf of Trieste, in pursuit of shoals of anchovies together with the tufted marangone Tobia, one of the protagonists of the animated stories called "Underwater intrigues".

From the floats of the mussel farms on the Trieste coastline, our marangone can observe everything that goes on in and out of the water, making special encounters such as the one with Valentina, his friend the Caretta caretta turtle, passing by saddled bream, damselfish, hermit crabs and ... alien species such as the squirrel fish.

A true hotspot of marine biodiversity, the mussel habitat opened the eyes of visitors to the science festival to a whole new world, often unknown in terms of its importance and peculiarities, and did so through games, stories, puzzles and lots of informative and educational material that made it possible to narrate the great variety of marine and bird species that find refuge, resting place, food source and much more here.
