PRESENTATION OF THE ENGREEN2 in Val Rosandra-Dolina

From university professors to world-famous winemakers, the names associated with the Val Rosandra-Dolina Glinščice celebratory event include excellence

On Sunday 17 December, the celebratory event 'A Year of Biodiversity in the Rosandra Valley' will be held. The Community value of the cross-border character to improve the protection and conservation of nature, biodiversity and green infrastructure of the event will then be ensured and institutionalised by the presentation of the Interreg Project "ENGREEN 2" co-financed by the European Union within the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Erika Zuodar and Nina Štrekelj from the Park Škocjanske jame, the project's leading partner. At the Visitor Centre of the Rosandra Valley-Dolina Glinščice Regional Nature Reserve in Bagnoli della Rosandra-Boljunec, preparations are already in full swing for the planned scientific, recreational and eno-gastronomic activities.

In this respect, many prominent personalities in related fields have already confirmed their attendance. As for the speakers at the scientific presentation conference scheduled for the late morning, the ecological-conservation activities carried out in 2023 will be illustrated by, among others, Dr. Massimo Zanetti, representing the Organisational Position for the Management of Fishery Resources of the FVG Fish Heritage Protection Authority, who will present the brown trout eradication project from the protected area in coordination with Professor Elisabetta Pizzul, from the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Trieste. In addition to this valuable speech, Silvana Di Mauro, President of the Associazione Liberi di Volare 2012 - OdV, committed to the conservation and recovery of swallows, swifts and house martins, will also make a contribution.

No less rich in illustrious names are the spaces and moments dedicated to local food and wine: local producers of the highest quality, internationally recognised for the quality of their wines, such as Azienda Agricola Komar, Azienda Agricola Sancin and Azienda Agricola Zahar, have already confirmed their presence at the event; They are joined by Azienda Agricola Il Pucino, which has been processing and marketing aloe for almost thirty years, and Azienda Agricola Fior Rosso, which is dedicated to the production of the indigenous 'bianchera' variety of extra virgin olive oil (a product also processed by the aforementioned Zahar and Sancin farms). Completing a delicious and sought-after picture are two local honey growers, Daniele Novak and Dr Erika Inamo, with the latter also presenting her endemic and inimitable activity based on local medicinal herbs.
In this important context, there will be no lack of educational and conservation experiences of great emotional impact: from the very first morning, there will be nature workshops for children, playful pedagogical and psychomotor activities designed by professionals in the sector and structured around animations with the local flora, fauna and geology as protagonists, treasures of biodiversity towards which this proposal stands as a means of raising the awareness of future generations; Equally immersive, and sharing the same educational intentions (in this case widely extended also to more adult targets) will be the release, scheduled for the very early afternoon, of rehabilitated wild bird specimens by Maurizio Zuliani, head of the Centro Recupero Animali

Wild Animals Recovery Centre of Campoformido, one of the regionally coordinated structures in the rescue and care, every day and every night of the year, of injured and debilitated animals put in difficulty by human action, such as small poisoned mammals, herbivores recovering from accidental impacts with vehicles, and injured and mutilated birds, representing the vast majority of this reservoir of endemisms of which our Region, and Val Rosandra in particular, are the national and Mediterranean flagship.

The event will be rounded off with a guided hike suitable for all on one of the most popular and representative trails of the protected site, a trail that connects Bagnoli della Rosandra-Boljunec with Vedetta di Moccò-Zabrežec and Bottazzo-Botač.

The detailed programme is available on the website and social media of the Rosandra Valley Nature Reserve - Naravni rezervat Doline Glinščice
