We are pleased to announce that our round table is part of this year’s 35th European Heritage Days (EHD), organized by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia.
The European Heritage Days are an annual pan-European initiative that brings together more than 50 countries. Their purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage, encourage its preservation and bring it closer to the public through a variety of events and activities. The programmes taking place all over Slovenia connect local communities, institutions, associations and individuals who wish to present heritage in a contemporary, experiential and accessible way.
Within this framework, our round table in Nova Gorica will shed light on lesser-known artists from the cross-border area between Vipava, Savogna d'Isonzo and the wider Venetian region. Painters, sculptors, poets, composers and writers who significantly marked this space often remained in the shadow of more famous names – this time, however, we want to give them a voice and recognition. In addition to presenting the artists, we will discuss their importance for local and cross-border identity and present the three new digital thematic trails, developed within the Interreg Italy–Slovenia BEroots – Between rivers and lagoons: artistic routes project. These trails combine movement, experiencing nature and discovering cultural heritage through art, and are tailored for families, schools and seniors.
With this event, we symbolically and thematically join this year’s EHD theme, which encourages reflection on how heritage shapes our past and co-creates the foundations of our future. Our discussion about lesser-known creators and the presentation of new trails show that cultural heritage is alive and open – intended for different generations and for new ways of experiencing it.
