On January 28, 2025, the technical meeting of the Interreg Italy-Slovenia IRRIGAVIT project, organized by the University of Udine - DI4A in collaboration with the Institute for Agriculture of Slovenia (Kmetijski inštitut Slovenije), was held in Ljubljana. During the meeting, researchers from the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia (Geodetski inštitut Slovenije) presented the water potential modeling based on Sentinel2 images and estimates from the DSS Vintel system, as well as a classification model to assess the water status on experimental vineyards with the example of the Šmarje vineyard in Slovenia.
Subsequently, on February 19, researchers from the Geodetic Institute of Slovenia and the University of Udine - DI4A met in Ljubljana for a technical meeting, during which they refined the water potential modeling strategies. Using data from Sentinel-2, UAVs and agro-robots, they analyzed the impact of water shortage on vines and developed the first models based on data collected in experimental vineyards during 2024, laying the foundations for further developments and new measurements planned for 2025.
🤝 A big thank you also to the partners Consorzio Tutela Vini Friuli Colli Orientali e Ramandolo and to the agency RRA Severne Primorske doo Nova Gorica who are working on the guidelines and organizing meetings with policy stakeholders and to the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice who is developing the study of the water cycle in the vineyard.
Together, we continue to develop innovative solutions for more sustainable irrigation and efficient soil management.
