The SeaInsights project is approaching its conclusion, and the latest project meeting was therefore mainly dedicated to reviewing progress and coordinating final activities. Partners confirmed that the work is progressing as planned and that most key results are already in their final stage.
Within the first work package (WP1), a comprehensive report on marine biodiversity is being prepared. In early April, two online workshops (in Slovenian and Italian) will also be organised, where the results will be presented to the public. The event will be streamed on the YT channel on 2 April 2026 – stay tuned!
Important findings also come from dolphin research (WP2), indicating that the northern Adriatic area is used annually by approximately 600 dolphins. Researchers emphasise that this is an annual estimate, as the animals move throughout the year. In addition, technical guidelines and recommendations for improved marine environmental management are being developed.
The project also brings methodological innovations. In WP3, genetic analyses and drone-based research are being carried out, enabling modern, non-invasive monitoring of dolphins.
A key focus is also on connecting science and society. In WP4, educational materials for schools have already been prepared, while WP5 involves active stakeholder engagement and the development of guidelines for sustainable marine management.
Before the project ends, partners will finalise reports, prepare scientific publications, and organise final events. The SeaInsights project is thus successfully entering its final phase, providing valuable insights into the state of the northern Adriatic marine environment.
Key achievements, events, and updates will be published on the SeaInsights project website.
