On Thursday, February 29th, the Škocjan Caves Park successfully hosted a technical meeting of the E-Nat2Care project partners on the topic of implementing the monitoring of indicator insects in cross-border pilot Natura 2000 or biosphere areas in the Julian Alps and Karst. Representatives of all partners attended the meeting (the National Institute of Biology, the Julian Prealps Park, the Škocjan Caves Park, the University of Udine, and the University of Primorska).
The lead partner - the National Institute of Biology, presented the results obtained so far in the Nat2Care project, and then we focused on the main objectives of the monitoring. We agreed on the implementation of fieldwork and locations where monitoring will be carried out, as well as on the timeline. After the meeting, we also visited potential locations for Rosalium (a hotel for the Rosalia longicorn (Rosalia alpina)) in the Škocjan Caves Park, which will be an excellent contribution to educational and research activities.
The technical meeting was also the starting point for discussions about future challenges and discussions about other ongoing activities. The E-Nat2Care project partners concluded that such joint meetings are welcome, and we look forward to the next meeting, scheduled for September.
