On July 15th, 2025 the Managing Authority of the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia Programme has signed the financing contract of the standard project ECOMAPS.
The ECOMAPS project addresses the environmental challenges of the Italy-Slovenia area, focusing on climate change and air pollution, two interconnected and critical phenomena especially in urban areas. ECOMAPS face two different challenges of the environmental/climatic context: on one hand, some pollutants can influence climate change and promote air warming; on the other hand, a change in climatic parameters can alter the chemistry of the atmosphere and the reactions regulating the pollutant production and degradation. The project aims to promote adaptation to climate change in the cities of Venice and Ljubljana, providing useful tools to citizens and local authorities, such as a bilingual web application that will allow citizens and local authorities to visualize real-time data on air pollution to raise awareness on environmental/climate issues.
The Lead Partner of the project is Institute of Polar Sciences of National Research Council of Italy, which will collaborate with 3 Project Partners and 7 Associated Partners.
