BRIDGE
The BRIDGE project integrates culture, art, wellness and sustainable tourism in the GO!2025 program area. It responds to common challenges through cooperation, guidebook training, cross-border events, and investment in green infrastructure. It contributes to the goals of ECOC 2025 by increasing cross-border participation in cultural events and developing a new sustainable integrated tourism offer. The project also promotes the connection between people, nature and well-being through a thematic geomantic trail and sustainable artworks in art residences. The innovative approach is based on the integration of two NATURA 2000 sites and the creation of a permanent partnership for natural heritage management. Beneficiaries include residents and visitors to the area, with the goal of achieving multiplicative promotional effects through collaboration among partners.
Through cross-border cooperation, the BRIDGE project has developed a sustainable model that brings together culture, art, natural heritage and tourism, contributing to:
- the development of innovative tourism products;
- the protection of natural heritage;
- greater environmental awareness;
- the involvement of local communities and vulnerable groups;
- stronger cultural cooperation between Slovenia and Italy;
- the long-term sustainable development of the cross-border area.
Several events were organised across the cross-border area between Italy and Slovenia.
In Staranzano, the activities included an artist residency, a training day »Nature for Well-being«, an awareness-raising event »Sand and Time – Natural Beaches, Coastal Erosion and the Saltwater Wedge«, and a walk and reflection session accompanied by the sounds of life, »Ode to Water«, held as part of the Water Festival. The project’s final event also took place in Staranzano on 21 September 2025.
Other activities included two beach clean-up events in Alberoni (GO), a cross-border conference entitled »Promoting Sustainable Tourism between Italy and Slovenia« at Villa Vipolže, an educational event for primary school pupils in Kožbanski kot, and two art installations, one in Vrhovlje pri Kožbani and the other in Dobrovo. The official opening of the thematic trail also took place in Dobrovo in May 2025.
In March 2025, two training days were organised for Slovenian and Italian tourist guides, held in Kotline (Slovenia) and Staranzano (Italy).
