Project summary

Policy objective: PO 2 - A greener, low-carbon transitioning towards a net zero carbon economy and resilient Europe by promoting clean and fair energy transition, green and blue investment, the circular economy, climate change mitigation and adaptation and risk prevention and management.

Specific objective: SO 6 - Promoting the transition to a circular and resource efficient economy.

Typology: Standard project

The project promotes the programme area's transition towards a circular and resource-efficient economy in the construction sector: by intervening in the sector that today has the greatest impact in terms of both waste production (37.5% of total waste) and CO2 emissions (40% of energy consumption and 36% of emissions), the project will significantly contribute to the cross-border area's transition towards a greener economy.

Objectives

The project aims at tackling 3 main obstacles that prevent an efficient transition towards a circular and resource-efficient economy in the construction sector

  • The extreme weakness of the network between actors of the supply chain, especially between Italy and Slovenia;

  • Legislative limitations and the presence of different regulations on the two sides of the border;

  • The absence of adequate digital skills;

Output

Project aims to produce guidelines for the initiation of a cross-border circular economy system in the construction sector. In addition, a concrete tool will be developed that can accompany/support the system built up by the project: the "cross-border construction circular economy web portal”. At the level of the individual companies, in order to enable the difficult paradigm shift (digitisation and adoption of circular economy methods), a gradual involvement path has been devised that will require increasing commitment by the companies and ends with the partecipation in the JOINT FINAL ACTION.
