The presentation ALL-MICRO. An alliance for advanced microscopy was held on Saturday, 27 September in Trieste as part of the “Focus: Life Sciences” section of TriesteNext. The session featured contributions from researchers and project partners, including representatives from the University of Nova Gorica, CNR-IOM, TEC4I FVG and others, and was moderated by Gabriele Baj of the University of Trieste, coordinator of the ALL-MICRO project and of the interdepartmental microscopy center CIMA.
The discussion highlighted the growing importance of advanced microscopy in both industry and healthcare, where the ability to observe and optimize materials at the nanoscale opens new opportunities for innovation. At the same time, access to these sophisticated instruments and the required expertise remains expensive and often out of reach for small companies and public institutions.
To address this challenge, the European Union–funded ALL-MICRO project, supported by the Interreg VI-A Italy-Slovenia program, has created a cross-border network involving universities, research centers, and technology transfer organizations in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia. Its goal is to make advanced microscopy more accessible, strengthening collaboration between research and business while increasing competitiveness and productivity across the region.
