We invite you to the final event of the AGROTUR+ Karst Local Products and Tourism Project, which will take place on Tuesday, 2 December 2025, at 10:00 at Kosovelov dom in Sežana (Middle hall).

Participants will first have the opportunity to hear a brief presentation of the project results, followed by two panel discussions addressing key challenges in Karst viticulture, gastronomy, and the development of sustainable tourism.

PANEL 1: Contemporary Challenges of Karst Viticulture

The first panel will highlight the key challenges facing contemporary Karst viticulture and emphasise the importance of cross-border cooperation in addressing them. As shown by the results of the AGROTUR+ project, winegrowers on the Karst are confronted with the effects of climate change, altered dynamics of grape ripening and phenolic maturity, as well as an increase in diseases and pests that call for new approaches to vine protection. The discussion will also explore the microbiological profile of Teran, the importance of properly managed malolactic fermentation, long-term analyses of wine chemical composition, and opportunities to strengthen cross-border protection and joint promotion of Karst Teran.

At the forefront will be a comprehensive reflection on how to bring together the experience of producers, researchers and policymakers to jointly shape the future of sustainable Karst viticulture.

PANEL 2: The Cross-border Karst as a Boutique of Gastronomic and Tourism Experiences

The second panel will focus on how the Karst can become an attractive boutique destination that brings together the excellence of local products, sustainable tourism, and a wide range of cultural experiences. Speakers will present opportunities for the development of wine and gastronomic tourism, where Teran, Karst prosciutto, boutique ciders and other local products help shape the area’s unique culinary identity. Special attention will also be given to new digital tools, such as the digital Teran Museum, and to how art, cultural heritage and archaeological finds contribute to strengthening the Karst’s visibility. The discussion will further highlight the importance of cross-border cooperation in developing the tourism offer and the future steps ahead.

The panel will bring together perspectives from tourism experts, local providers, researchers and stakeholders from both sides of the border, who will jointly outline the future development of the region.

Following the event, a tasting of local products (FOOD LAB) will take place, along with time for networking and an opportunity for the media to ask questions. The tasting is organised in cooperation with the Borderless Okus project, funded by the European Union through the Small Project Fund GO!2025 under the Interreg VI-A Italy–Slovenia 2021–2027 Programme, managed by the EGTC GO.
