The KRAS-CARSO II Project invites all interested guides who wish to upgrade their guiding by incorporating geological, natural, cultural, and intangible heritage to the event Geopark: more than geological heritage, which will take place on Thursday, 23 April 2026, at 16:30. The meeting point will be in front of the main entrance to the Sežana Botanical Garden.
Programme:
- 16.30 - 17.20 Welcome address and presentation of current tourism activities within the KRAS-CARSO II Project, presentation of Kosovel Year, and a short walk through the Botanical Garden
- 17.30 - 18.30 Field experience: “In the Footsteps of Kosovel” with interpretation of Kosovel’s poetry (led by Mateja Kralj, Sežana Adult Education Centre), meeting point at Liberation Square
- 18.35 - 18.55 Refreshment break
- 19.00 - 20.30 Round table “Holistic interpretation of heritage in a geopark: challenges and opportunities for guides” (Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation – Nova Gorica Regional Unit, Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, UNESCO Global Geopark Idrija, UNESCO Global Geopark Karavanke – Karawanken, Municipality of Sežana, Association of Tourist Guides of Slovenia)
The event will be held in Slovenian and Italian, with interpretation provided.
