I sea day
10 October 2026
Trieste, Italy – Municipality of Monfalcone stand at Barcolana

The Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme is taking part in Barcolana 2026, the historic international sailing regatta held every year in the Gulf of Trieste, attracting sailors, sailing enthusiasts and visitors from across Europe.

The I-SEA DAY event, organized in cooperation with the Municipality of Monfalcone, will be promoted as part of the Interreg Cooperation Day 2026 (IC-DAY) and will be dedicated to showcasing the value of cross-border cooperation through some of the projects funded by the Interreg Italy-Slovenia Programme 2021-2027.

During the morning, the Programme and the role of the Municipality of Monfalcone as a beneficiary will be presented, together with the MARE SUPERUM project, dedicated to promoting maritime culture and traditions and the inclusion of people with disabilities. Some of the activities carried out as part of the project will also be presented, including the restoration of a historic boat and initiatives aimed at making sailing more accessible.

The second part of the initiative will be dedicated to the synergy between 4 Interreg Italy-Slovenia projects working on fire prevention and management. The CROSS ALERT, KARST SAFE, FIRESAFENET and Karst Firewall 5.0 projects have in fact been selected among the 6 finalists of the Interreg Project Slam 2026-2027 contest, providing a further opportunity to demonstrate how cross-border cooperation can transform shared expertise, experience and resources into concrete solutions for community safety.

Participation in Barcolana therefore represents an opportunity to bring Italy-Slovenia cooperation beyond its usual settings and showcase it through the themes of the sea, innovation, inclusion and collaboration between neighbouring territories.
